AMD’s AI infrastructure momentum is accelerating. In its latest earnings report, the company said data center revenue more than doubled year over year to $6.7 billion, up 107% from the same period last year and higher than the $5.8 billion reported in the previous quarter.
The surge is being driven by strong demand for AI capacity, as companies continue building the computing backbone needed for model training, inference, and large-scale AI services. AMD CEO Lisa Su said the company expects data center segment revenue to more than double year over year in 2027 as well.
Why this matters
More AI-focused data center growth means more competition, more chip supply, and potentially faster access to powerful computing for businesses, researchers, and developers. AMD’s gains show that the AI hardware ecosystem is broadening, which can help reduce bottlenecks and support continued innovation.
- Scale: Billions in quarterly revenue reflect real-world AI infrastructure deployment.
- Momentum: AMD is seeing rapid year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter growth.
- Impact: Expanded AI compute capacity can support more advanced products and services across industries.
