Meta is rolling out a new Facebook feature called “Your Algorithm” that lets users directly customize the topics they want to see more—or less—of in their Feed and Facebook Reels.
The feature builds on Meta’s broader push to make AI-powered recommendations more responsive and user-directed. People can update preferences by selecting topics inside Your Algorithm or by using “interested” and “not interested” options on individual posts.
Why this is a win
Recommendation algorithms shape much of what people see online, and giving users clearer controls is a meaningful step toward more personalized and transparent AI experiences. Meta says the system will respond right away when users update their preferences, helping feeds adapt more quickly to what people actually want.
- More control: Users can actively guide Facebook’s AI recommendations.
- Faster personalization: Feed and Reels suggestions can adjust immediately.
- Wider rollout: Similar tools have already appeared on Instagram and Threads.
While this is an incremental product update rather than a technical breakthrough, its potential reach is significant. For millions of Facebook users, it could make AI-curated social feeds feel more useful, relevant, and in their control.
