Nolla Health is testing a new AI-assisted path to acne treatment in Utah. The startup’s app allows users to scan their face, after which its AI system evaluates acne severity and generates a prescription for treatment.
The rollout is starting as a supervised pilot. For the first 100 patients, two physicians will review and approve each AI-generated prescription before it is issued, giving the company a cautious way to validate the system in real clinical use.
Why this matters
Acne is common, but getting dermatology care can be slow, expensive, or inconvenient. If successful, AI-assisted prescribing could help people access routine treatment more quickly while freeing clinicians to focus on more complex cases.
- Faster access: App-based screening may shorten the path from concern to treatment.
- Real-world deployment: The service is launching with patients in Utah, not just as a lab demo.
- Built-in oversight: Physicians remain part of the process as the pilot expands.
