Waze is getting a helpful AI upgrade with Google integrating Gemini into the navigation app to make trips more personalized and easier to manage while driving.
One of the biggest improvements is an expansion of Waze’s conversational reporting feature. Drivers will be able to speak naturally to report traffic incidents or suggest map updates, such as flagging a road closure or correcting an outdated house number.
Smarter searches from the driver’s seat
Waze is also adding Destination Search, which allows drivers to use conversational voice commands to find places along their route. Instead of tapping through menus, users can ask for something like a coffee shop that is currently open.
These upgrades show how AI can improve everyday mobility by reducing friction and supporting more hands-free interactions. For millions of drivers, small improvements in reporting, searching, and personalization can add up to safer and smoother trips.
