AI-powered personalization meets YouTube discovery
YouTube’s new AI custom-feed feature lets users type a description — for example, “relaxing piano study playlist” or “fun DIY science experiments for kids” — and instantly receive a curated stream of videos that match that prompt. You can also choose from suggested prompt examples, then pin the resulting feed to the top of your YouTube homepage so it’s easy to jump back in.
The rollout is available in English to signed-in YouTube users in the US on both mobile and desktop. To use it, click the “Your custom feed” tab on the YouTube homepage and enter a short prompt into the AI text box. The system then assembles a dynamic stream of videos tailored to that description.
Why this is a win:
- Viewers can find niche or mood-specific content faster without hunting through channels or search results.
- Creators gain improved discoverability as AI surfaces relevant videos to motivated, prompt-driven audiences.
- The simple prompt interface makes personalization accessible to anyone, not just power-users.
As personalized recommendation tools become more capable, features like YouTube’s custom feeds make content discovery quicker and more enjoyable for millions of users. This addition is a clear example of AI smoothing the path between curiosity and the right content, helping both viewers and creators get more value from the platform.
