OpenAI is strengthening its focus on creators by bringing in a trio of experienced leaders from Patreon. Sam Yam, who co-founded Patreon and served as its technology chief, is joining OpenAI to lead Creator Product.
He will be joined by Drew Rowny, Patreon’s former product head, and Shannon Ma, its former engineering head. Together, the group brings deep experience building tools for independent creators, subscription communities, and digital audiences.

Yam said the team will “build together with Creators at OpenAI” and share early access to a new set of tools aimed at supporting creators and their communities.
